Are you on Periscope? You should be!

Have you heard of Periscope?  It's an app-- hot off the press!  

The purpose of Periscope is to give others a view into your life… LIVE!  People can broadcast videos live and viewers can watch, comment, and give some love (in the form of clicky-hearts).

All of the broadcasts stay open on the app for 24 hours.  I just did my first broadcast this afternoon, so you can check it out until tomorrow!  :)  I felt a little silly doing my first live broadcast…  I didn't know what to talk about and didn't have too many people tuning in.  

BUT, I am so excited for the possibilities!  I think it will be awesome to actually SEE all of the teachers I follow, rather than just read posts on their blogs.  I know a big problem at the TpT Conference last year was that people wanted to connect, but didn't know what their favorite bloggers looked like!!  I am so looking forward to connecting with new teachers and sharing my love for the profession.  I hope you'll follow me on this journey!! :)

Stepping it up with Social Media

One thing the TpT conference taught me was that, aside from quality products in my TpT store, I need to be active on social media.  This past week I have worked hard to get going on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.

I already had an Instagram account, but I made my profile public, and have since gained a ton of followers!  It's been fun to see what other teachers post.  I might be a little bit addicted to checking my feed…. (anyone else out there?)  You can follow me on Instagram here.  :)

Miss Woodward's Class also got a Facebook page!  It's a work in progress, and I'm still working on figuring this one out.  Any veteran Facebookers out there have tips on reaching a larger audience?

Have you heard of PicMonkey?  I LOVE it!  It's a free site you can use to edit photos, add text and other images to your photos, and create collages.  I even used it to create this pin for a collaborative Pinterest board.

Gettin' Techy!

Slowly, but surely, I am getting the hang of all things "techy".  My latest endeavors: creating social media buttons and organizing my Pinterest boards.

I followed this tutorial from Diary of a Grumpy Teacher to create my own social media buttons!  It was actually pretty easy.  If you look to the right of my blog, you can see my three buttons I designed and created.  Click one to send me an email, one to go to my TpT store, and one to my Pinterest boards.  Pretty cool, huh?

I also organized my Pinterest boards.  Instead of one Classroom Ideas board, I divided my boards into subject areas.  I dare you to try clicking my Pinterest button and check out my new boards and board covers I created.   :)
